Nice to Meet You!

Welcome to the new blog of H. Hawkins Photography!

After months of thinking and planning for this blog, it has finally been launched!  My hope is that it will be a fun, refreshing place to pull off and slow down for five minutes and appreciate the beauty in the people and relationships around us, to see the world through a different lens.  I also hope that you’ll be able to gather practical tips on all things photography such as what to wear for a photo shoot, what to look for in a wedding photographer, how to use your photos as artwork in your home, and other similar tips.  As you read, please feel free to comment but most especially, leave your questions!  I would love to address them in a future blog post.  Chances are, if you’re asking the question, so are ten other people.

But before we get into all that fun stuff, I should let you get to know me a bit.  Chances are you and I have at least one thing in common.  It’s the little things, the details that make me smile… sunsets, coffee shops, the quietness of the country, pumpkin spice lattes, the playing of an acoustic guitar. I grew up in the country running barefoot in the summer and picking apples with my family in autumn. I have an adventurous side that loves snowboarding, scuba diving, surfing and trying new things. I married my best friend and am head over heels in love with his dark curly hair.

You might be wondering how I became a photographer.  Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve always loved photography… the kind that takes your breath away with its warmth, its emotion, its mystery. That’s why one of my greatest joys in life is capturing the beauty and expression of life in a timeless photo. As a kid, you were probably asked what you wanted to be when you grew up followed by, “Find a job that you just love to do and you won’t work a day in your life”. That is why I do what I do… because I love people and photography is my passion.
